From the first days of the practice a significant part of the our work has involved listed buildings and conservation areas. To give the best service to our clients and to the community for which the buildings are being protected, we employ a number of architects with experience in building conservation and both practical and academic knowledge of periods and styles. We have members on the register of Architects Accredited in Building Conservation. Our philosophy is to find the means to achieve a sustainable future for a building, enhancing the aspects which make it important and, wherever possible, removing inappropriate interventions. It is our policy to undertake research on a building from the outset and to engage with the relevant conservation bodies in an understanding of and commitment to the objectives behind our proposals. Members of the Practice have published work on building conservation and have lectured at the Architectural Association and the Universities of York and Kingston.
